Jensen did a post on his Instagram promoting his new animated movie Batman: The Long Halloween Part One, which is available on digital platforms since last month.
@jensenackles: “Wondering what to watch… how bout this?!?! #batmanlonghalloween”
New photos and videos of the movie and of the second part of the movie, which airs at the end of this month, were released. Don’t miss the Comic Con panel where Jensen will talk about it!
The first part of the animated movie where Jensen gives voice to Batman/Bruce Wayne, Batman: The Long Halloween, premieres next week, on June 22, and a new interview about the movie was now released. The interview got together Jensen, Julie Nathanson (who gave voice to Gilda Dent), the writer-producer Tim Sheridan and the supervising producer Butch Lukic.
“I come from a previous film where I voiced Red Hood,” Ackles says. “So when I got the call for this, I assumed I would be reprising that role into whatever story these guys were adapting. But then I realized I’d gotten the upgrade! I don’t think they even got the whole word ‘Batman’ out. They were like, ‘Bat-‘ and I was like, yes!”
When it comes to the Halloween getup, Ackles admits, “I couldn’t help myself.”
But it also came together organically. “I had this wonderful crew person I was working with who hand-made costumes and cosplay stuff,” Ackles says. “She didn’t even know. She did a Red Hood version for me. She was like, ‘I’m gonna do a Batman, would you be my mannequin?’ And inside I was like, ‘If you only knew!'”
Some movie reviews have also been published by those who have seen the movie already, in which they praise Jensen’s performance:
It’s the voice cast that really makes this adaptation of The Long Halloween stand out, though. After playing Red Hood over a decade ago, Jensen Ackles brings Bruce Wayne and Batman to life in a way that makes us feel this is a role he should have been given the chance to take a shot at long before now. Just like the Supernatural alum once made Jason Todd his own, it’s easy to imagine DC fans being unwilling to accept anyone other than Ackles as the DC Animated Universe’s Caped Crusader after this movie. He’s that good.
