Filming of ‘Rust’ suspended after accident with prop gun which killed a crew member

A tragedy happened yesterday on the filming set of Rust, the new movie of Jensen. The leading actor of the movie, Alec Baldwin, accidently shot with a prop gun the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the director Joel Souza during the shooting of the movie. The accident was fatal for Halyna Hutchins who died at the hospital, while Joel Souza was hurt but is already out of the hospital.

The situation raised again the discussion about the safety conditions on filming sets. The prop guns do not have real munitions but they include blanks with gunpowder. Investigations are still ongoing to understand what happened to get to this fatal ending. This is not an isolated event. In 1993 Brandon Lee also died after being shot by a prop gun while filming the movie The Crow.

The filming of Rust is suspended indefinitely.

JensenDaily’s staff sends condolences to Halyna Hutchins‘ family, friends and colleagues.

Jensen on last day of filming Supernatural

Yesterday was the last day of filming Supernatural, a very special day for many people. Jensen wrote a message thanking everyone who supported him in this journey. He also posted some photos from the last days of filming and promised to post more soon. Danneel, Jensen’s wife, also posted a message to him, with some new photos.

@jensenackles: “Woke up at 6am this morning. That alarm went off with a heavy tone. Today is the final day of a 15 year journey. One that has changed my life forever. To those I have worked with on this journey and to those who have watched and supported…you will never understand my great appreciation for you. “Thank you” doesn’t cover it. There just aren’t words. I’m so grateful for these memories that I will carry with me forever. What a ride it has been. And what a run. #spnfamilyforever here are a few shots from our final days…including today. I’ll try and send more later, but in true SPN form…we are in the middle of “nowhere” and have zero service. Go figure. Stay tuned.”

@danneelackles512: “You may be shooting your last day…helping to bring Supernatural across the finish line and into television history, but this is not… the End. Supernatural is a show about love, and the love that has been created within the story is eternal. Love between brothers, love between friends, love between co-stars… love for the crew, love for the fans, and love for each other. Thank you to everyone who is a part of this community and those who continue to share their love and talents with us all.

“For there’ll be peace when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest. Don’t you cry no more”.”
